HB 596 -- Dietitians

Co-Sponsors:  Portwood, Black, Stefanick

This bill modifies certain provisions relating to the licensing
of dietitians.  The bill:

(1)  Creates the definitions for "dietetic practice" and
"registered dietitian";

(2)  Places the State Committee of Dietitians within the Division
of Professional Registration;

(3)  Authorizes the committee to assist the division in carrying
out the provisions of the Dietitians Practice Act;

(4)  Requires the committee to approve the licensing examination;

(5)  Exempts from licensure certain persons if they do not hold
themselves out as being licensed dietitians; and

(6)  Contains provisions regarding lapsed and inactive licenses.

The bill contains penalty provisions.
