HJR 17 -- Motor Vehicle Sales Tax Revenue

This proposed constitutional amendment changes the distribution
of proceeds from the sales tax on motor vehicles, trailers,
motorcycles, mopeds, and motorcycles.

Currently, 50% of sales tax proceeds on these vehicles is
distributed by formula to counties, cities, and the state.  The
amendment increases the distribution beginning January 1, 2006,
to 75%; January 1, 2007, to 80%; January 1, 2008, to 90%; and
January 1, 2009, to 100% of the proceeds.
