HCS HB 1101 -- CAMPAIGN DISCLOSURE REPORTS

SPONSOR:  May (Yates)

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass" by the Committee on Elections
by a vote of 11 to 1.

This substitute increases the campaign disclosure report late
filing fees in general election years from $10 to $25 for the
disclosure reports due January 15 and April 15 and from $10 to
$100 for the disclosure reports due July 15, October 15, eight
days before an election, 30 days after an election, and eight
days before a general election.

FISCAL NOTE:  Not available at time of printing.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that increasing the late filing fees
will encourage candidates to file their disclosure reports in a
timely manner.

Testifying for the bill was Representative Yates.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
