HB 1401 -- COMMERCIAL DRIVERS' LICENSES

SPONSOR:  Goodman

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass" by the Committee on
Transportation and Motor Vehicles by a vote of 20 to 0.

This bill exempts any person who drives emergency equipment from
the commercial driver's license requirements.  Currently, people
are exempt only when under emergency conditions.

FISCAL NOTE:  No impact on state funds in FY 2005, FY 2006, and
FY 2007.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say there are occasions when emergency
equipment must be moved in non-emergency situations.

Testifying for the bill was Representative Goodman.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
