HB 773 -- UNIVERSITY OF MISSOURI AGE REQUIREMENTS
SPONSOR: Icet
COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass" by the Committee on Education
by a vote of 23 to 0.
This bill removes the requirement that students at the University
of Missouri be over 16 years old to be admitted.
FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds in FY 2005, FY 2006, and
FY 2007.
PROPONENTS: Supporters say that this age restriction dates from
the 19th century. It was intended to keep from paying for what
would have been high school.
Testifying for the bill were Representative Icet; University of
Missouri; and Associated Students of the University of Missouri.
OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
