HCS HB 928 -- INTERMEDIATE DRIVER'S LICENSES SPONSOR: Crawford (Bivins) COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on Transportation and Motor Vehicles by a vote of 18 to 0. This substitute requires that if an intermediate driver's license expires on a Saturday, Sunday, or legal holiday, the license will remain valid for five business days immediately following the expiration date. No person will be guilty of an offense of driving with an expired license within this five-day period. FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds in FY 2005, FY 2006, and FY 2007. PROPONENTS: Supporters say the bill will accommodate people who have an intermediate driver's license that expires on weekends or holidays.
