HCS HB 942 -- COUNTY FINANCES

SPONSOR:  Johnson, 47 (Munzlinger)

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass" by the Committee on Local
Government by a vote of 16 to 1.

This substitute authorizes county treasurers in third and fourth
classification counties to issue payroll checks before the filing
of the county budget estimates.

FISCAL NOTE:  Not available at time of printing.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that being unable to issue payroll
checks when they are due puts county employees in a financial
bind.  The bill will solve this problem.

Testifying for the bill were Representative Munzlinger; Office of
Lewis County Treasurer; Missouri County Treasurers Association;
and Missouri Association of Counties.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
