HB 989 -- CONVEYANCE IN DENT COUNTY

SPONSOR:  Barnitz

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on
Local Government by a vote of 18 to 0.

This bill authorizes the Governor to convey the National Guard
Armory Building and the adjoining parking lot located in Dent
County to the City of Salem.

The bill contains an emergency clause.

FISCAL NOTE:  No impact on state funds.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that the bill is necessary to
maintain an existing facility, including a telecommunications
resource center, in Salem.

Testifying for the bill were Representative Barnitz; Gary Brown,
Mayor of Salem; and Ray Walden, University of Missouri
Telecommunications Resource Center.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
