AN ACT
To amend chapter 589, RSMo, by adding thereto one new section relating to sex offenders.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the state of Missouri, as follows:
Section A. Chapter 589, RSMo, is amended by adding thereto one new section, to be known as section 589.415, to read as follows:
589.415. 1. Any probation officer or parole officer assigned to a sexual offender who is required to register pursuant to sections 589.400 to 589.425, shall notify the appropriate law enforcement officials whenever the officer discovers that the offender intends to change his or her residence. Upon discovering the offender’s intent to change his or her residence, the officer shall obtain the new address where the offender expects to reside and shall report such address to the chief law enforcement official with whom the offender last registered and the chief law enforcement official of the county having jurisdiction over the new residence, if different. The officer shall also inform the offender of the offender’s duty to register. However, nothing in this section shall affect the offender’s duty to register, pursuant to sections 589.400 to 589.425.
2. As used in this section, the term “probation officer” includes any agent of a private entity providing probation supervision services.
