AN ACT

To amend chapter 115, RSMo, by adding thereto one new section relating to qualifications of candidates for public office.





Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the state of Missouri, as follows:


            Section A. Chapter 115, RSMo, is amended by adding thereto one new section, to be known as section 115.306, to read as follows:

            115.306. Notwithstanding any other provisions of law to the contrary, no person shall be certified as a candidate for governor, lieutenant governor, attorney general, state auditor, state treasurer, secretary of state, state representative, state senator, or any elected office of a political subdivision of this state, nor shall such person's name appear on the ballot as a candidate for such office, who shall have been convicted of, or plead guilty to, or plead nolo contendere to, a felony, until such time as the governor of the state in which the conviction, guilty plea, or nolo contendere plea occurred, or the President of the United States if the conviction, guilty plea, or nolo contendere plea was to a federal felony, grants a pardon to such person.
