HCS HB 448 -- POLICE OFFICER COMPENSATION

SPONSOR:  Johnson, 47 (Villa)

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on
Local Government by a vote of 15 to 0.

This substitute increases the salary scale for police officers in
the City of St. Louis by $1,350 a year.

The substitute contains an emergency clause.

FISCAL NOTE:  No impact on state funds in FY 2006, FY 2007, and
FY 2008.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that St. Louis police officers have
not had a pay increase since 2002, and the funds have already
been budgeted.

Testifying for the bill were Representative Villa; St. Louis
Metropolitan Police Department; St. Louis Police Leadership
Association; and St. Louis Board of Police Commissioners.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
