HB 329 -- Compulsory School Attendance Sponsor: Baker (123) This bill raises from 16 to 18 the age for leaving school at the option of a student's parent or guardian. All parents or guardians must agree in writing when children are excused from school for work or are dropped from school rolls. A religious exemption to compulsory school attendance is added. The bill clarifies that students who have successfully completed all elementary and secondary grade levels before the age of 18 are exempt from the compulsory school age. The provisions concerning work certificates and the working hours and days of children are amended to reflect the higher age.Copyright (c) Missouri House of Representatives
