Summary of the Introduced Bill

HB 683 -- Child Care Subsidies

Sponsor: Jolly

This bill changes the income eligibility guidelines for receiving
child care subsidy benefits. A child care provider will receive
full child care subsidy benefits for children whose family income
based on the number of dependents is 130% of the federal poverty
limit. A family income between 130% and 185% of the federal
poverty limit is entitled to a subsidy reduced in proportion to
their income in excess of 130%. Incomes in excess of 185% of the
federal poverty level are not entitled to a subsidy benefit.

The Children's Division within the Department of Social Services
will develop rules to become effective July 1, 2006, modifying
the income eligibility criteria.
