AN ACT

To amend chapter 167, RSMo, by adding thereto one new section relating to student athletes.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the state of Missouri, as follows:

            Section A. Chapter 167, RSMo, is amended by adding thereto one new section, to be known as section 167.690, to read as follows:

            167.690. 1. No public or private organization, or public or private association, or individual shall:

            (1) Infringe in any manner on the right of a student athlete to compete in or train for any athletic event duly sanctioned by the national governing body for that sport as recognized by the United States Olympic Committee; and

            (2) Levy any form of punishment or sanction against any student athlete for competing in or training for any athletic event sanctioned by the national governing body for the sport as recognized by the United States Olympic Committee.

            2. The provisions of this section shall apply only to those sports under the jurisdiction of the United States Olympic Committee and known to be "Olympic" sports.
