HB 1105 -- DRIVER'S LICENSE RENEWALS

SPONSOR: Wilson (119)

COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on
Transportation by a vote of 16 to 0.

This bill exempts active duty soldiers and their spouses from
maintaining a valid Missouri driver's license while stationed
outside the United States. The exemption will not extend beyond
the 90-day period immediately following the soldier's discharge
or the date on which he or she returns to Missouri, whichever
occurs first.

FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds in FY 2007, FY 2008, and
FY 2009.

PROPONENTS: Supporters say that military personnel and their
families who are making a sacrifice to protect our interests and
freedoms should receive this exemption.

Testifying for the bill were Representative Wilson (119); and
State Highway Patrol.

OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
