HCS HB 1343 -- CIRCUIT COURT FACILITIES IN LEWIS COUNTY SPONSOR: Johnson, 47 (Munzlinger) COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on Local Government by a vote of 15 to 0. This substitute repeals the requirement that the City of Canton provide the resources and space for a circuit court division in Lewis County. The procedural responsibilities are also repealed. The substitute becomes effective December 31, 2006. FISCAL NOTE: Estimated Income on General Revenue Fund of $3,549 in FY 2007, $6,499 in FY 2008, and $6,499 in FY 2009. No impact on Other State Funds in FY 2007, FY 2008, and FY 2009. PROPONENTS: Supporters say that the second division of the circuit court is no longer necessary, and the money would be better spent elsewhere, especially when budgets are so tight. Testifying for the bill was Representative Munzlinger. OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
