Summary of the Committee Version of the Bill

HB 1687 -- DONATION OF PRESCRIPTION DRUGS

SPONSOR:  Wright (137)

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on
Health Care Policy by a vote of 9 to 0.

This bill allows drugs donated to the Prescription Drug
Repository Program that are not used or accepted by any pharmacy,
hospital, or non-profit clinic in this state to be distributed to
out-of-state charitable repositories for use outside of the
state.

FISCAL NOTE:  No impact on state funds in FY 2007, FY 2008, and
FY 2009.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that the bill will allow prescription
drugs that are not used or accepted to be given to charities
instead of being disposed of in the trash.

Testifying for the bill were Representative Wright (137); and
Christian HealthCare, Incorporated.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
