HB 1687 -- DONATION OF PRESCRIPTION DRUGS SPONSOR: Wright (137) COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on Health Care Policy by a vote of 9 to 0. This bill allows drugs donated to the Prescription Drug Repository Program that are not used or accepted by any pharmacy, hospital, or non-profit clinic in this state to be distributed to out-of-state charitable repositories for use outside of the state. FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds in FY 2007, FY 2008, and FY 2009. PROPONENTS: Supporters say that the bill will allow prescription drugs that are not used or accepted to be given to charities instead of being disposed of in the trash. Testifying for the bill were Representative Wright (137); and Christian HealthCare, Incorporated. OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
