HCS HB 1710 -- REGIONAL RECREATIONAL DISTRICTS

SPONSOR:  Johnson, 47 (Robb)

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on
Local Government by a vote of 15 to 0.

This substitute authorizes the governing body of Boone County to
have exclusive control over the expenditures and operation of a
regional recreational district located only in that county on
land owned solely by the county.

FISCAL NOTE:  No impact on state funds in FY 2007, FY 2008, and
FY 2009.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that because there are no residents
on the land owned by the county, there is no one currently
authorized to serve on the regional recreational district board.

Testifying for the bill were Representative Robb; and Keith
Schnarre.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
