HB 1241 -- Corrections Officer and Jailer Training Sponsor: Roorda This bill creates within the state treasury the Corrections Officer Training Fund for the training of corrections officers and jailers. A $5 surcharge will be assessed for each court proceeding filed in any circuit court in this state or any municipal court which employs a jailer and will be deposited into the fund. Moneys in this fund will not at any time be transferred to general revenue. Beginning January 1, 2007, all corrections officers and jailers are required to receive a minimum of 36 hours of training every three years. At least half of those hours must be police academy training which meets Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) requirements. Specific training standards will be determined by the Corrections Officer Certification Commission.Copyright (c) Missouri House of Representatives
