HB 1691 -- Women's Preventive Health Services Program Sponsor: Baker (25) This bill establishes the Women's Preventive Health Services Program within the Department of Health and Senior Services to provide preventive health care services, education, and screenings and to serve as an entry point for primary health care for uninsured women. The program will include, but is not limited to: (1) Physical examinations; (2) Medical, surgical, reproductive, psycho-social, and family health history; (3) Breast examinations for cancer and laboratory tests for cervical cancer; (4) Procedures to prevent cervical cancer and laboratory tests for anemia, blood pressure, and cholesterol; (5) Testing, assessment, and treatment for sexually transmitted diseases; (6) Pregnancy testing and education on contraceptives applicable to a woman's needs and health history; and (7) Client-focused health education and counseling and referrals to other health care providers. Each health carrier or health benefit plan that offers or issues plans must provide enrollees with direct access to the services of a participating provider of her choice within the provider network. Currently, carriers are required to provide enrollees with direct access to the services of a participating obstetrician, gynecologist, or obstetrician/gynecologist.Copyright (c) Missouri House of Representatives
