Summary of the Introduced Bill

HB 1754 -- Associate Degree Scholarship Program

Sponsor: Sater

This bill establishes the Associate Degree Transfer Incentive
Scholarship Program for students who have completed associate
degrees. Public higher education institutions may apply for
scholarship funds on behalf of these students. Priority will be
given to students who demonstrate a need and to programs that
have established articulation agreements for the program to which
the student has been accepted. Scholarships will be a minimum of
$1,000, may run for four semesters, and may be prorated for
part-time students. Participating institutions will establish
application and renewal criteria, award amounts based on unique
conditions that these students may face at the institution, and
report annually on the use of scholarship funds.

The provisions of the bill will expire six years from the
effective date.
