Summary of the Introduced Bill

HB 1932 -- Missouri Teacher Certification Incentive Program

Sponsor: Boykins

This bill establishes the Missouri Teacher Certification
Incentive Program to assist noncertified instructional employees
of school districts who have been accepted into college programs
leading to teacher certification. The State Board of Education
and the Coordinating Board for Higher Education will determine
eligibility criteria. For the initial three years of the grant
program, the maximum award will be $1,000. For the fourth and
subsequent years, the coordinating board will determine the
maximum amount. Each individual receiving a grant will enter
into a contract with the coordinating board.

The Missouri Teacher Certification Incentive Fund is created and
will be administered by the Department of Higher Education. The
fund will consist of moneys appropriated by the General Assembly
and any gifts, grants, or bequests from federal, private, or
other sources for the purpose of assisting noncertified
instructional employees in their education.
