AN ACT

To amend chapter 285, RSMo, by adding thereto one new section relating to verification of Social Security numbers, with penalty provisions.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the state of Missouri, as follows:

            Section A. Chapter 285, RSMo, is amended by adding thereto one new section, to be known as section 285.021, to read as follows:

            285.021. An employer shall verify that an employee has a valid Social Security number. An employer in violation of this section shall upon conviction be guilty of a class D felony.
