HCS HB 608 -- PROPERTY TAX EXEMPTION FOR VETERAN ORGANIZATIONS

SPONSOR:  Day

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass by consent" by the Special
Committee on Veterans by a vote of 10 to 0.

This substitute exempts real and personal property owned by
veteran organizations from property taxes.

FISCAL NOTE:  No impact on state funds in FY 2008, FY 2009, and
FY 2010.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that the bill corrects a technical
problem with the constitutional amendment that was passed in
2006.

Testifying for the bill were Representative Smith (14); Matt
Brown, St. Charles County Assessor; Veterans of Foreign Wars of
the United States, Missouri Department; and Vietnam Veterans of
America, Missouri State Council.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
