HB 915 -- TAX EXEMPTION FOR VETERANS' ORGANIZATIONS

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass" by the Special Committee on
Veterans by a vote of 11 to 0.

Currently, all bingo card suppliers must pay a tax equal to
two-tenths of one cent on each bingo card sold in Missouri.  This
bill exempts veterans' organizations from this tax.

FISCAL NOTE:  No impact on General Revenue Fund in FY 2008, FY
2009, and FY 2010.  Estimated Cost on Other State Funds of
$578,000 in FY 2008, $694,000 in FY 2009, and $694,000 in FY
2010.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that the bill will save about
$600,000 annually for veterans' organizations which could be used
for community and veterans' programs.

Testifying for the bill were Representative Dougherty; and George
Newell, Missouri Association of Veterans Organizations

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
