HB 933 -- DRIVER'S LICENSES FOR MILITARY PERSONNEL SPONSOR: Grill COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Special Committee on Veterans by a vote of 9 to 0. This bill allows an application for a driver's license for a person mobilized and deployed with the United States armed forces to be signed by a person who holds general power of attorney for the applicant. FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds in FY 2008, FY 2009, and FY 2010. PROPONENTS: Supporters say that if a member of the military deployed overseas loses his or her driver's license, a family member can't go to a licensing agency and get a duplicate. It is ridiculous that a family member who holds power of attorney for his or her spouse or child serving in the military is unable to get a duplicate driver's license. Testifying for the bill were Representative Grill; and Jodi Fox. OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.Copyright (c) Missouri House of Representatives
