HB 1130 -- Compensation for Wrongful Imprisonment Sponsor: Low (39) This bill allows for the compensation of persons who are wrongfully convicted and imprisoned. Within 30 days of release, a state caseworker will arrange emergency assistance and compensation for the released person based on an assessment of loss and needs and a community integration plan. Any award of compensation by the Committee on Compensation for Wrongful Conviction to the released person may be appealed to the Victim's Compensation Board in the Department of Corrections. Compensation includes reasonable and necessary expenses needed to integrate the person back into society and reasonable attorney fees.
