HB 1186 -- Compulsory School Age

This bill requires school attendance until a child reaches 17
years of age.  A 10-member task force is established within the
Department of Elementary and Secondary Education to assist school
districts in meeting the new compulsory attendance requirement.
The task force will report its findings and recommendations to
the State Board of Education and the General Assembly by July 1,
2010.

The provisions of the bill regarding the compulsory school age
become effective July 1, 2013.
