Summary of the Introduced Bill

HB 877 -- Biodiesel Fuel Requirements

Sponsor: Hobbs

This bill requires that all diesel fuel sold in Missouri after
January 1, 2009, be a biodiesel-blended fuel that contains at
least 5% biodiesel by volume. Distributors will not be required
to purchase and sell a biodiesel-blended fuel if it costs more
than conventional diesel fuel. They must provide documentation
of fuel prices if requested by the Department of Agriculture or
Department of Revenue to avoid violating the provisions of the
bill. All terminals in Missouri must offer a conventional diesel
fuel and a biodiesel-blended fuel for sale.

The Department of Agriculture may impose standards regarding cold
weather biodiesel-blended fuels and may enforce its regulations
with a fine or injunction.
