HB 955 -- Work for Restitution Program

This bill establishes the Work for Restitution Program within the
Department of Corrections, which requires persons convicted of
nonviolent offenses where restitution is a requirement of their
probation to participate in and complete the program.  In its
main provisions, the bill:

(1)  Specifies which offenders are eligible to participate in the
program;

(2)  Requires parole revocation for failure to complete or
participate in the program;

(3)  Provides for the development of a program plan for
offenders;

(4)  Requires the program provider to prepare monthly progress
reports to the Board of Probation and Parole's designee;

(5)  Establishes restitution fee schedules;

(6)  Authorizes the department to enter into agreements for the
collection of fees;

(7)  Creates the Work for Restitution Fund within the state
treasury for the purpose of funding the program; and

(8)  Authorizes the department to establish rules to implement
the provisions of the bill.
