Summary of the Introduced Bill

HJR 38 -- Voter Identification

Sponsor: Yates

Upon voter approval, this proposed constitutional amendment
authorizes the General Assembly to require identification for the
purpose of voting in Missouri. Government-issued photographic
identification will be a permissible form of identification, and
the state may implement any other requirements for voting that
are allowed under federal law. The state will pay for the full
cost of one form of required identification and will comply with
the Hancock Amendment by reimbursing political subdivisions for
any costs.
