AN ACT

To repeal section 77.230, RSMo, and to enact in lieu thereof one new section relating to qualifications of certain mayors.




Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the state of Missouri, as follows:


            Section A. Section 77.230, RSMo, is repealed and one new section enacted in lieu thereof, to be known as section 77.230, to read as follows:

            77.230. No person shall be mayor unless [he be] such person is at least [thirty] twenty-five years of age, a citizen of the United States and a resident of such city at the time of and for two years next preceding [his] the election. When two or more persons shall have an equal number of votes for the office of mayor, the matter shall be determined by the council.
