To amend chapter 8, RSMo, by adding thereto one new section relating to flags.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the state of Missouri, as follows:
Section A. Chapter 8, RSMo, is amended by adding thereto one new section, to be known as section 8.013, to read as follows:
8.013. The Veterans Commission shall notify the governor after receiving notification from the United States Department of Defense that a member of the United States armed services who was deployed after September 11, 2001, and whose home of record is Missouri has died while on active duty or as a result of injuries suffered while on active duty. The governor shall issue a proclamation directing all state agencies and political subdivisions of this state to fly the flag of the United States and the Missouri state flag at half-staff the next day in honor of the service member's service to this country.
