MARGARET T. DONNELLY

Rep. Margaret
Donnelly, a Democrat, represents part of St. Louis County
(District 73) in the Missouri House of Representatives. She was elected
to the House in November 2002.
In addition to her
legislative duties, Rep. Donnelly is an attorney concentrating in family and
juvenile law. Previously she worked as a
school social worker.
Rep. Donnelly is a member
of the Missouri Bar Family Law Section; the Family Support Network; FOCUS - St.
Louis; Richmond Heights Historical Society; the Women Lawyer’s Association; the
St. Louis Women’s Political Caucus; the Bar Association of Metropolitan St.
Louis, and the St. Louis University School of Social Service Advisory
Committee.
She was elected to the Ferguson-Florissant
School Board in 1986, where she served two terms with one year as
president. She also served on the Board
of Commissioners of METRO (Bi-State Development Agency); Regional Airport
Governance Task Force and Beyond Housing (Ecumenical Housing Production
Corporation). Rep. Donnelly chaired the Commission for Abused Women and
Children Shelter, which established the first domestic violence shelter in St. Louis County.
She was a delegate to the Democratic National Convention in 1996.

Outstanding Leader Award for Governmental Service, 2005; Life Skills Legislator of the Year, 2005
Award; MO Association for Social Welfare

Disability Rights Legislative Leadership Award, 2005; the RCGA
Lewis and Clark Statesman Award 2005;
the National MS Society, Gateway Chapter, Committed Statesperson Award
2005; Missouri Bar Legislative award in
2004, the Child Advocate of the Year award from the St. Louis Council on Child
Abuse and Neglect in 2004, Missouri Votes Conservation Award in 2003, the
Guardian ad Litem of the Year Award from the St.
Louis County Family Court in 2002 and the President’s Award of Honor from the
Women Lawyer’s Association in 2001.
Rep. Donnelly received a
master’s in social work in 1977, and a juris doctor
in 1988, both from St. Louis
University.
Born January 14, 1954, in Alton, Ill, Rep. Donnelly
resides in Richmond
Heights with her husband,
David R. Riedel. They have two
children: Julia
Riedel and Adam Riedel.
