HB 1386 -- MUNICIPAL HEALTH CARE FACILITIES
SPONSOR: Cox
COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Special
Committee on Healthcare Transformation by a vote of 7 to 0.
Currently, an ordinance providing for a larger board of trustees
for municipal health care facilities requires that three-fifths
of the trustees be citizens of the city. This bill specifies
that some or all of the trustees do not have to be citizens of
the city.
FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds in FY 2009, FY 2010, and
FY 2011.
PROPONENTS: Supporters say that a municipal health care facility
can serve a larger region than just the city in which it is
located. The bill will also make filling positions on the board
easier.
Testifying for the bill were Representative Cox; Mike Haynes;
Bothwell Regional Health Center; and Missouri Hospital
Association.
OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
