HB 1416 -- OFFICIAL STATE MUSHROOM SPONSOR: Nance COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Special Committee on Tourism by a vote of 9 to 0. This bill designates the morel mushroom as the official state mushroom. FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds in FY 2009, FY 2010, and FY 2011. PROPONENTS: Supporters say that morel mushrooms are prevalent throughout Missouri and that they are featured on a special Missouri license plate designated by the Department of Conservation. The morel is a low-fat, high-fiber food and hunting them is an adventure in which the entire family can participate. It is appropriate to give it this special recognition. Testifying for the bill was Representative Nance. OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.Copyright (c) Missouri House of Representatives
