Summary of the Committee Version of the Bill

HB 1628 -- ALTERNATIVE FUEL DECALS

SPONSOR:  Cooper (120)

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on
Ways and Means by a vote of 7 to 0.

This bill authorizes an exemption from the alternative fuel decal
and tax requirement for historical vehicles powered by liquid
petroleum or natural gas.

FISCAL NOTE:  No impact on state funds in FY 2009, FY 2010, and
FY 2011.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that an alternative fuel car owner
who operates his or her historical vehicle on a public road only
once a year, even if just to participate in a parade, must pay
$75 annually for an alternative fuel decal.  The bill exempts
only antique cars.

Testifying for the bill was Representative Cooper (120).

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
