HB 1677 -- MISSOURI LOCAL GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES' RETIREMENT SYSTEM

COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Special
Committee on Retirement by a vote of 7 to 0.
This bill allows political subdivisions to elect to cover
emergency police dispatchers and jailors as policemen members and
emergency fire dispatchers and emergency medical service
personnel as firemen members for retirement benefit purposes
under the Missouri Local Government Employees' Retirement System.
FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds in FY 2009, FY 2010, and
FY 2011.
PROPONENTS: Supporters say that the bill will allow emergency
dispatchers, medical service personnel, and jailors to be
eligible for the same retirement benefits as certified personnel.
Testifying for the bill were Representative Franz; and William
Schwartz.
OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
