Summary of the Committee Version of the Bill

HB 1784 -- FLAGS FLOWN OVER STATE BUILDINGS

SPONSOR:  Meadows

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass by consent" by the Special
Committee on Veterans by a vote of 11 to 0.

This bill requires any Missouri or American flag flown on state
property to be manufactured in the United States.

FISCAL NOTE:  No impact on state funds in FY 2009, FY 2010, and
FY 2011.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that the symbol of America should be
produced in America and only flags produced in America should be
flown over state property.

Testifying for the bill were Representative Meadows; Rich
Heigert, Missouri Association of Veterans Organizations and
American Legion, Missouri Department; and Dewey Riehn, Veterans
of Foreign Wars of the United States, Missouri Department.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
