HB 1934 -- ETHICS COMMISSION DIRECTOR SPONSOR: May COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass" by the Committee on Elections by a vote of 7 to 2. Currently, the Executive Director of the Missouri Ethics Commission is statutorily prohibited from serving more than six years. This bill removes the director's term limit. The bill contains an emergency clause. FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds in FY 2009, FY 2010, and FY 2011. PROPONENTS: Supporters say that the bill will remove an unnecessary term limit on the position of Director of the Missouri Ethics Commission. No other state has such a term limit, and it is difficult to find qualified applicants to serve for only a six-year term. Testifying for the bill were Representative May; and Missouri Ethics Commission. OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.Copyright (c) Missouri House of Representatives
