COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Special
Committee on Professional Registration and Licensing by a vote of
8 to 0.
This bill revises the definition of "practice of embalming" to
include the chemical preparation of a dead human body for
disposition as well as all activities leading up to and including
arterial and cavity embalming.
FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds in FY 2009, FY 2010, and
FY 2011.
PROPONENTS: Supporters say the bill will ensure that there is a
clear understanding of the practice of embalming resulting in
better consumer protection.
Testifying for the bill was Representative Dougherty.
OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
