Summary of the Committee Version of the Bill

HCS HB 2206 -- PUBLIC ROADWAYS

SPONSOR:  Pollock (Sutherland)

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass by consent" by the Special
Committee on State Parks and Waterways by a vote of 6 to 0.

This substitute requires the Department of Transportation's
plans, programs, and projects to provide full consideration for
the safety and contiguous routes for bicyclists, pedestrians,
disabled persons, and transit users of all ages and abilities.
Bicycle and pedestrian ways must be given full consideration in
the planning and development of transportation facilities.

FISCAL NOTE:  No impact on state funds in FY 2009, FY 2010, and
FY 2011.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that the bill provides more
opportunities for bicyclists and pedestrians to enjoy our state
parks and trails.

Testifying for the bill were Representative Sutherland;
Department of Transportation; and Missouri Bicycle Federation.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
