HB 1421 -- Protection of Highway Workers

This bill specifies that any person who commits the offense of
endangerment of a highway worker will be guilty of involuntary
manslaughter in the first degree if in doing so, the person acts
with criminal negligence to cause the death of any highway worker
while the worker is performing work in a construction or work
zone.

The crime of assault of a law enforcement officer, emergency
personnel, or probation and parole officer in the first, second,
or third degree is expanded to include a highway worker in a
construction or work zone.
