HB 1797 -- Aging Equines Sponsor: Viebrock This bill allows the owner of an aging equine to deliver the animal to any nonpublic animal shelter or rescue ranch during regular posted hours for proper disposal or the humane termination of life. The maximum fee charged for proper disposal of the equine, which must be posted within the receiving area of the animal shelter, cannot exceed the average fee charged by three local veterinarians. All transfers of equines once complete are final. No person seeking to voluntarily terminate ownership of an equine is to be refused services based on failure to pay the costs that may be incurred in the care and maintenance of the equine by the animal shelter or rescue ranch.Copyright (c) Missouri House of Representatives
