HB 1856 -- Trademark Registrations

Sponsor:  Johnson

This bill requires the registration of a trademark to be filed
with a signed statement that the registrant has a bona fide
intention to use the mark in commerce or in connection with the
goods or services listed in the application. The bill allows a
single application for the registration of the same trademark for
goods or services in multiple classes. The fees associated with
registering a trademark are increased:

(1) From $50 to $75 for the application fee for each class that
the applicant is registering the trademark;

(2) From $10 to $20 for the renewal fee; and

(3) From $50 to $75 for the assignment fee.

The bill also revises the various classes of goods and services
for the purposes of trademark registration.
