Summary of the Introduced Bill

HB 1987 -- Conduct or Speech at Public Meetings

Sponsor: Oxford

Currently, any action brought against a person for conduct or
speech at a public hearing or meeting is subject to a special
motion to dismiss, motion for judgment on the pleadings, or
motion for summary judgment so it can to be considered on an
expedited basis to prevent the unnecessary expense of litigation.
This bill allows actions resulting in an award for litigation
expenses including, but not limited to, attorney fees and other
litigation costs to also be subject to these special motions.
