Summary of the Introduced Bill

HB 2082 -- State Board of Cosmetology and Barber Examiners

This bill changes the laws regarding the State Board of
Cosmetology and Barber Examiners.  In its main provisions, the
bill:

(1)  Establishes an inactive license for all cosmetology and
barber licenses;

(2)  Prohibits the issuing of any new Class CH-hairdresser
license after August 28, 2008.  Licensees as of that date will be
allowed to renew their license for as long as they comply with
the current rules;

(3)  Requires the board to maintain a registry of licensees which
will be open for public inspection;

(4)  Increases the penalty for a person engaging in the practice
of cosmetology without a license from an infraction to a class C
misdemeanor; and

(5)  Repeals several obsolete provisions.
