Summary of the Introduced Bill

HB 2205 -- Motor Vehicle Offenses

Sponsor:  Sutherland

This bill creates the crimes of operation of a vehicle causing
injury, operation of a vehicle causing serious injury, and
operation of a vehicle causing death.  Any person who commits the
crime of operation of a vehicle causing injury will be guilty of
a class C misdemeanor, must pay a fine of up to $1,000, and lose
his or her driving privilege for a period of at least 90 days.
Any person who commits the crime of operation of a vehicle
causing serious injury will be guilty of a class B misdemeanor,
must pay a fine of up to $2,000, and lose his or her driving
privilege for a period of at least six months.  A person who
commits the crime of operation of a vehicle causing death will be
guilty of a class A misdemeanor, must pay a fine of up to $5,000,
and lose his or her driving privilege for a period of at least
one year.
