Summary of the Introduced Bill

HB 2237 -- Transporting or Harboring Illegal Aliens

Sponsor:  Komo

This bill prohibits any person from transporting, moving,
attempting to transport, concealing, harboring, or sheltering any
alien in this state knowing or in reckless disregard of the fact
that the alien has illegally entered or remained in the United
States.  Any person violating this provision will be guilty of a
felony for which the penalty will be a term of imprisonment of at
least one year, a fine of at least $1,000, or both.  The bill
does not apply to temporary shelter or health services provided
by any public agency, religious organization, private charity, or
health care professional.
