Summary of the Introduced Bill

HB 2252 -- Commercial Driver's Licenses

Sponsor: St. Onge

This bill revises the definition of "farm vehicle" to clarify
that it is a commercial motor vehicle operated by a farmer
transporting agricultural products, machinery, supplies, or a
combination of these to or from the farm within 150 miles.

The provisions regarding commercial driver's licenses will not
apply to any person driving a farm vehicle which is controlled
and operated by a farmer, including operation by employees or
family members, and used to transport agricultural products,
machinery, or farm supplies to or from a farm if the vehicle is
used within 150 miles of the individual's farm and is not used in
the operations of a common or contract motor carrier.

The bill also prohibits the expungement of records of any minor
found guilty of or who pled guilty to possession of intoxicating
liquor or driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor and
is licensed as a commercial motor vehicle driver or was operating
a commercial motor vehicle at the time of the violation.
